JRC was engaged to upgrade the façade lighting at the High Court of Australia, which is located on Parkes Place within Canberra’s Parliamentary Triangle. Any lighting enhancements needed to reflect the significance of the institution, the monumental scale, clever use of materials, as well as its location on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin.
This project involved replacing the existing external lighting and controls for the High Court building facades and the southern forecourt.
JRC delivered a technically modern lighting solution, to illuminate and focus attention on the dynamic, powerful structural forms and the creative use of bush-hammered concrete of the High Court building. An advanced LED wireless controlled intelligent lighting system enabled us to highlight the magnificent architecture of the building.
It was important that this installation was done sustainably, safely, reliably and with the necessary flexibility to achieve appropriate and responsible implementation of the design and highlight the actual nature of this heritage building. We also dramatically improved the night-time presence of the heritage-listed building in the nation’s capital.
